A Playful Approach to Learning for Ages 3 – 6
DAILY ACTIVITIES
Our daily activities on Mondays and Wednesdays begin with Circle Time, where we read a story together, sing a song or clap to the beat of our favorite nursery rhymes, and then learn about a new activity or two from the Montessori room.
Students are free to self-select activities from the areas of: literacy, math, sensorial awareness, practical life, cooking, nature, and free play. Children also have the choice of working alone, with a partner, or in a group. The teacher also leads mini-lessons for smaller groups of children who demonstrate readiness for a new math or literacy concept. If time and weather permit, we may go outside for playtime or a nature walk.
Lessons are planned in advance, but they are easily adapted as student interest dictates. Welcome to the fun and excitement of a not-so-typical class day at the Sibley Learning Center!
