A Playful Approach to Learning for Ages 3 – 6

Readers’ Circle

We are forming a new Readers’ Circle for children ages 5 – 8 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9 – 10:00 a.m. This group is specifically for those who have enough letter, sound, and book knowledge to start reading simple books using basic reading strategies with teacher guidance.

The format will follow a traditional Guided Reading Group:

  1. Shared Reading of big books and charts to introduce new words and conventions of print.
  2. Rereading familiar books to practice fluency and expression and build confidence.
  3. Teacher introduction of a new book to practice using basic reading strategies with support given as needed.
  4. Making and breaking words with magnetic letters to promote deeper visual analysis.
  5. Guided and Independent Writing to build an awareness of sound and letter connections and increase the cadre of known words.

These activities will be presented in a fun and engaging manner, drawing on common childhood themes that invite enthusiasm and exploration.

The first session runs from January 13th to January 29th and costs $15 per class. You can save by prepaying $75 on or before January 13th however this amount won’t be prorated if your child misses any classes.

If you, or someone you know, might be interested, please e-mail me soon, as spaces will be very limited for this introductory session.

Thank you for your interest,

Rebecca Wolf
